Greek Yogurt Smoothie

In the summer, a smoothie is the perfect thing for me when I have to eat, but the heat takes away my appetite. As a diabetic, eating regular meals is important - no skipping meals allowed. A smoothie is something I often eat for lunch as an alternative to the same old boring sandwich. The addition of the greek yogurt gives me the extra protein I need and I can easily count my carb servings by preparing it myself.

The smoothie I made this day had a tropical flavor with the use of pineapple yogurt, but by changing the flavor of the yogurt, the smoothie possibilities are endless. Other favorites are strawberry banana flavor yogurt with fresh strawberries and banana added or mango yogurt with banana and blueberries added.

This recipe will make a large smoothie, perfect for lunch, with only 3 net carb servings. By making it yourself, you control the ingredients, so you are getting the right amount of sugar and fat, but all the incredible flavor as your favorite smoothie store. Use your creativity to come up with your favorite combination :-)

Have a great day!

  2. I'm with you on this. I have a smoothie most days for breakfast. I go with frozen pineapple and a banana. I've added some fresh strawberries for the last few days. It always feels like a treat.

  3. I really enjoy the Greek yogurt. I'll have to try the smoothie. I sometimes make them for breakfast and I add a few prunes or apricots.

  9. I love smoothies for breakfast! Often I'll throw in a handful of spinach too (it doesn't alter the taste but it does change the color!)
