- This was my view at lunch one day last weekend. Melissa and I decided to sit outside on the deck, at this restaurant on the lake very near us. One of the very best things about summer, is dining outside. You feel like you are miles away from home, at a vacation spot, rather than a five minute drive.
- Another favorite summer spot is Comerica Park, home of the Detroit Tigers. We went to the game last night and it was very fun. The crazy weather cooperated and it was a perfect, beautiful, breezy summer night for a baseball game. Pictures tomorrow :-)
- My latest summer read that I found interesting is The Astronaut Wives Club, by Lily Koppel. I didn't realize the fascination America had with these women and their constant exposure through Life magazine. The author has compared them to the first reality stars, similar to the Kardashians. Their every hairstyle, outfit and even their shade of lipstick was scrutinized by the public. They started out as ordinary military wives and became celebrities. Their experience, told through interviews and the detail of the space flights was fascinating. I can still remember watching the moon landing as a child, gathered around a small black and white television.
- I am very excited about a trip to New York City that is happening very soon. I have not been to Manhattan since my daughters were babies and I can't wait to spend some time there. My question for you is - what are some great restaurants or things I should see? Great boutique shopping areas? Many of you either live near, or travel there often, so your experience would be welcome.
